Late Night Drive (for Dom)
It was Friday night and Les was antsy.
Her already extended time in Los Angeles was coming to a close. She had less than a week left before she needed to be back home and while she had known leaving was going to be hard... she hadn't expected it to be this hard. Leaving Austin and Blake was always rough. They didn't get to see them much and when they did, it never seemed long enough before they were heading back. Now, she was leaving not only them but another family that she had grown close to.
Normally, knowing that there was a race somewhere in the city was enough that she'd go there and blow off some steam. Or, knowing that she'd see Dom and the other people she'd come to know during the month she'd been there the next night was enough but... this time it wasn't.
"I'm going to go out for a drive. I should be back before morning but if I'm not, I'll text or call you guys," she said, looking over at Austin and Blake as she packed a tupperware of brownies into a reusable bag filled with a few other snacks she'd started gathering. She'd only thought of the idea about thirty minutes ago but she was a quick packer.
Blake's mouth quirked up. "You know, I didn't expect an infamous Les road trip to happen while you were here. Should we be offended?"
"I'm kind of offended," Austin piped up before chuckling. Though, honestly, neither of them were at all offended. They'd known her for what felt like ever and sometimes she needed a drive to clear her head. They would have joined her on her excursion but both of them had to work the next day and couldn't
Les rolled her eyes with a laugh. "You still have several days with my face so you'll get to see me plenty before I head back home."
"Just be careful, ok?"
"Always," she assured both of them with a smile before kissing their cheeks. She picked up her phone and walked over to the couch before taking a seat. She could do this solo and had done so often enough but... before giving it another thought, she pulled up her messages and taped on Dom's last message.
I know it's 10 p.m. but let's go for a drive. Right now. I have snacks and a full tank of gas. You down?
Maybe it would only be an hour, a couple of hours or most of the evening, she wasn't sure. She didn't know where they'd end up either - it could be just a drive around the city or another town or city close by... honestly, it didn't usually matter. It always depended on her state of mind and the company she was in.

would you want to do a scene of them going a race in las vegas and her challenging one of them? :D
Les hummed, enjoying his touch and just the way this felt. "If there is one thing I'm really good at, other than racing, it's being spontaneous." Although it had taken her quite a bit to get to that point, feeling safe enough with Don and the guys to be spontaneous. Her grin widened when he mentioned having her in his life being the best decision he made. "Same. I'm really glad I went out with Austin and Blake that night."
Not that there would have even been a chance that she wouldn't have gone and they both likely knew that.
"I really like making out with you too," she agreed in a murmur, returning the kiss with a content hum. Les was glad it wasn't just for or about sex, even if it was pretty amazing.
As I said, I am all for this.
"Maybe that's why we met," he says, actually speaking softly, considering that. He said it just kind of teasing but there's a truth to those words as well he realizes. "So I can be more spontaneous and you can... well have us. Our family."
He knows it might not be as important as it is to others, but he feels he's offering a lot.
He grins at that, kissing her again tenderly. "Good, because I don't plan to stop. Well maybe enough to feed you and do some racing but that's about it."

She knew just how important that was for him to say and it made it increasingly harder to not think about what this could become. "You won't have any shortage of spontaneity with me," she said with a smile, tracing his lips with a finger. "And as for having your family, I love that. I love that I can come and visit and be a part of it. I hope that your family will become part of mine as well."
She paused and scrunched her nose up teasingly before adding on. "Even if it does mean the guys will far outweigh the number of women still." However, she had no qualm about it in the least. Letty, Mia, Abby, and herself could more than handle any of them.
After the arrival of the promised waffles and a long shower, they'd eventually made their way out of the hotel room and into Las Vegas for a change of clothes and to find themselves a race for later that night. After some subtlety placed phone calls, texts to friends, and two garage visits, they had a place and a time. All they had to do was enjoy the rest of the day until nightfall.
"As much as I like to think we're bringing some element of a surprise tonight, I have the uncanny suspicion and years of experience to know that these guys know Dominic Toretto will be at the races tonight," she said sending him an amused smile as she finished getting ready later that evening. Though, she was sure it wasn't only him that would be noticed. Somehow, she knew, this would get back to Don and Ricky later or sooner than later, if she were completely honest. "I definitely plan on racing tonight but you're free to my car if the urge strikes you."

And he found himself wanting that more and more. More than he wanted to let himself hope, but he already was.
So there was breakfast, and a shower, and laughter, and it was perfect. That alone almost scared him. Just how good things were with her.
He couldn't help but laugh at that. "Yeeeah. I kind of want this to be your thing, but with us asking around, it's likely to get out. Should be interesting. But I plan on hyping you. It's your night, your race," he says, shaking his head. "I'm here to be the pretty one in the passenger's seat."
And he means it. He's going to let her shine tonight and do what he can to help.
"And look over the competition for you. To help."

With Rob, she had known from just about the start that it was never going to work. It had been fun while it lasted but despite how much he assured her that he had understood just about everything in her life with her family, he didn't. Realistically, she knew she couldn't make him understand anything. She hadn't felt bad about it ending less than two months after the start, she only wished she'd listened to Abby sooner and didn't waste two months of her life with him.
It reinforced her need to find someone who was on the scene with them and who really got it, though. Someone who wasn't intimidated by her family or her and who wanted to build something together.
When Dom said he wanted this to be her thing and wanted to hype her up she knew she was done for. "So you're my arm candy for tonight," she asked with a little grin. Leaving this man to just go back home was going to be the hardest thing she did. Ego was everywhere in this business and the fact that he wanted this to be her night said more than anything and proved even more.
"Let's see how much money I can make off of these guys then," she said with a smile, turning and walking over to him.

Starting with tonight.
He grins at that. "I do look good on your arm, don't I? Besides, it will blow their minds and I love that too."
But it's not for that reason. Not with her. It's about letting them see how amazing she is. It's about having as much as he can with her before she leaves.
"Oh you're going to do great," he says, stepping up to twine his fingers with hers.

She loved this.
"We're in Arizona and still it feels like home," she said with a grin, glancing over at Dom in the passenger seat.

Glancing at Les, realizing he's grinning with her as he nods. "Always like home when you get here. Was just thinking it's all the same, always feels right."
He looks around at those meandering through the parked cars. "You ready?"
no subject
"More than ready. Let's do this." Les pressed a quick kiss to his cheek and stepped out of her car, shutting it behind her and walking around to the front.
Popping her up against the front, waiting the few seconds it took for Dom to join her, Les watched people stroll by. She noticed a few looks coming their way but her attention was on some of the cars parked nearby with their hoods up and music blaring from the trunk.
The last time she'd been to a "new" race was when she met Dom just a few weeks ago and felt herself grin at the memory. Now they were here, together, doing this, and damn had things changed since then. "Let's go check out these cars and find me an opponent."
no subject
"Let's do it. You got your eyes on a car or waiting until it feels right?"
Even as he asks, he gestures for her to take the lead. In his mind this was her night after all.

She heads in a direction alongside him, taking a few minutes to soak in the party, the people and the cars. She was glad she always brought along cash for just this reason. "Hm, five minutes is how much time I'm giving it before someone wanders over." They always did. Not just because he's Dominic Toretto or that someone may know her through her family, but because guys like this were always curious about newcomers on their block.
She knew she always was when she as back home and some new kids showed up, flashing money at them.

And he's right.
Up comes a young guy who gives her a once over and ignores her arm around Dom's waist.
"Well, you're knew. Can I give you a tour?"
Dom just stands there, smiling, though he can't help himself. "What do you guys call male skanks? Isn't that just for women?" Letty used it often enough, after all. Even now.
no subject
"Hm, personally, I use the term skank interchangeably between male and female," she says to Dom, glancing at him with a smirk and then looking at the guy standing there. "No reason it should only be one."
Les hummed and tilted her head. "We can handle the tour ourselves, thanks all the same," she says as she steps around him and continues on with their walk. Les noticed a few of the women looking Dom's way and rolls her eyes with a grin.
It was a couple of minutes later that a nice Camaro caught her eye. "What do you think of that Camaro," she asks him with a nod to the car.
no subject
"Fair enough then. No reason to discriminate," he teases. "Though Letty's right. There really is a smell. Like gasoline and Axe," he adds, finding things pretty damn fun from this side of things, and a chance to loosen up as well.
He grins at that guy as they walk past, looking back innocently as they go.
He takes a moment to look over the car, considering the engine, the care of the car.
"I think you'd look gorgeous behind the wheel, honestly."
and as always we can switch off with him if you'd like! He may not be such a tool
She doesn't even bother to look back. She learned early and quickly, for those she has no desire to interact with, to not give guys like that an inch. Course, there are the guys who don't take no for an answer and it was often why, when they were younger, one of the guys would hang around her and Abby. But, they knew how to handle themselves.
Her mouth curls up. "I agree," she says, walking around it slowly. "Though, without knowing how this guy races, I don't think I'll race for pinks tonight. It does make me want one though."
"I'd appreciate that. I would hate to lose it so soon," a guy walks up to them with an amused smirk, not that he would ever race it for pinks in the first place. "Rumor was we'd have a couple of special guests tonight. Welcome to our piece of the desert, I'm Xavier," he said, holding a hand out.
"Les," she said, shaking his hand with a firm grip. She was sure she caught him off guard by being the first but she knew how to play this game.
